Master the bar endo first, then take the bar endo down to the ground. You can pull off the Miami hopper with a peg, you just have to crank the handlebars to the left when it touches the ground.
Dave Nourie had a killer variation of that where he spun around 360 while in the Miami Hopper position. Anyways, I'm all for mixing old school and new school. None of this is of course too easy or anything.
I know that I am so late on this vid it's not even funny but, Matty keeps falling to the left, so to counteract the left lean don't turn the bars to 90` until the grip is almost to the ground. Or try going up with your left foot on the downstroke instead of your right. I know it won't be easy. It's kinda like a goofy footed skater trying to switch to their back foot, but I think it'll help center your balance.
I ruined so many rims doing something similar, I don’t recall the name of the trick, but endo and throw the handlebars 90 degrees, lean back and bounce while holding the seat with the same hand as the grip. Anyone remember this?
My brother learned that trick back in the day. Except he didn't put his foot on the handlebars. He did a lot of things like that back in the 80s through early 2000s.
There’s a bit of snobbery about riders in the 80s and what they were really capable of compared to today but this video shows they were pushing the envelope back then, I love the 80s recreation stuff, you should definitely keep them coming, thanks for the video
Just found this video 2 years later……super fun watching this! Miami Hopper was a trick I NEVER even attempted back in the 80's. Kudos to you guys for working on it!
love watching you gents. One thing i noticed, the back peg was also stopping Matty's leg from moving. Scotty you and i are just a few years apart. Love it!
"Matty kinda did it" lol.. had me Rollin. I used to pull this trick no problem back in the day. You guys had me cheering loud for you. I'm about to go dust my bike off.
Yeah, these are cool videos. It really is kind of interesting to see what they were doing in the 80s when I was a kid. Do the difference in what freestyle is today. But honestly them dudes from the 80s were doing some really technical s***. RLTW 3/75
man, having to commit is one of the scariest things ever, but necessary. I remember trying to learn jumping over the bars to sit on them.. if you dont throw it all out there, you just wipe. its 100 or nothing. Same for when i learned how to drop in on a half pipe. Was a 6 ft'er and if you didnt commit you were eating crap… man i wish i was young again to just go balls out on these kinds of things
I think the biggest problem here is the difference in the seat from old school to new school. When the seat is a little higher you can sit up more straight instead of having to lean forward so much
Did good
That is the one trick I could never learn in all of 30 years of riding. I am almost 50 now
Scoot schiley from ohio used to be great at this .. hes a artist now

We used to reach between the legs and grab the back of the seat for this trick as a variation
80s team holds it
North Jersey. We called it a “cherry picker”
I just did this last week

He is going 1/2 to slow. Those bike dimensions are wrong. The seat should be next to the handlebar. Fun video.
Thats why we had fold up GT pegs. So cool to see this now. I must have tried this 1000000x in the 80s

I'm 50 years old, and I can still do a Miami Hopper and miami Hop hops!! Radical dude!!! 🤙
I remember the first time that I made this trick in front to my friends, their reaction they just go crazy.

This was one of my favourite flatland tricks i used to do in the 80's. I used to love sitting up on the rear tyre with no hands
I also am an East Coast front brake rider.
Matty never fails to entertain. Thanks for the smiles.

A brakeless rock walk was a staple trick back in the day, you do one in front of the kids today and they are amazed 😂
I love how Matty always seems to do way better than he expects
